Description:
The Washington Crossing or Fortieth Street Bridge over the Allegheny River.

Notes:
Built in 1923, the bridge was designed by Pittsburgh architect Benno Janssen and commemorates the crossing of the river by George Washington and his guide, Christopher Gist, on December 29, 1753, during their return journey from the French-held Fort Le Boeuf.
