The Manchester Bridge, which spanned the Allegheny, was demolished by order of the U.S. War Department because it didn't offer enough clearance for military ships. Construction of the Manchester Bridge, also called the North Side Point Bridge, was completed in 1913. With the developments at the Point and the Golden Triangle in the 1950s, the Manchester Bridge was marked for demolition in September of 1970.
