Description:
Edgar Thompson Steel Works at Braddock Avenue and Thirteenth Street, Braddock, Allegheny County.

Notes:
In operation by 1875, the Steel Works were the first successful effort to produce steel by the Bessemer Process, producing steel rails for the Pennsylvania Railroad (whose then-president lent his name to the works). In the mid-1960s, seven blast furnaces supplied 16 open-hearth furnaces.
