Notes:
The Pittsburgh Works between the Monongahela River and Second Avenue (foreground), circa 1938-42, was a major defense plant during World War II. Before the steel troubles of the 1970s, Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation was one of the largest and most productive American iron and steel manufacturers of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Pittsburgh Works closed in 1981.
