Notes:
Shopping in Pittsburgh's department stores used to be a grand affair. In the 1930s and 1940s people fixed their hair and put on a stylish outfit for a shopping trip downtown. Frank and Seder's attempted to increase its revenue during the Depression and World War II by catering to both the high and low end shoppers. The store went out of business in 1959.
